Your Support Makes a Difference
At The Murphy Project CIC, we believe community isn't just a word—it’s a way of life. And thanks to the kindness, funding, and unwavering belief from people like you, we’re making a tangible difference in the lives of those navigating one of the most challenging journeys life can present: hair loss due to cancer or autoimmune illness.
Let’s be frank—losing your hair is tough. Really tough. It affects your confidence, your sense of identity, and in many ways, how you feel able to face the world. That’s why we’ve built The Murphy Project around a very simple but powerful idea: no one should go through this alone. From providing practical headwear and self-esteem-boosting beauty items, to hosting well-being days and nurturing a real sense of togetherness, our mission is about connection, empowerment, and dignity. And here’s where you come in.
Why Your Support Matters
Every single donation—whether from an individual giving £5 or a grant of £50,000—goes directly towards providing support that is both immediate and long-lasting. With your help, we offer:
-
Free care packages containing organic headwear, eyebrow and eyelash solutions
-
Subsidised packages for those just outside our funded region, with £5 from each sale going back into our support services
-
Well-being days open to patients, survivors, carers, and family members
-
Online peer support groups where shared experience makes people feel seen and heard
-
Creative community projects like our upcoming cancer art exhibition—bringing stories into the light, not leaving them in the dark
Our care packages may seem simple on the surface—but they’re deeply rooted in understanding what it really feels like to lose your hair. And we don’t just mean physically—we mean emotionally, mentally, and socially too. We’ve been there. That’s why we exist.
Where We've Come From
In 2017, our founder Em began designing and making bold, stylish organic cotton headwear for her best friend Claire, who had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. It started as an act of love, compassion and design-thinking—providing headwear that didn’t scream “medical,” but rather “fashionable, brave and utterly fabulous.”
In 2024, after Claire sadly passed away, The Murphy Project CIC was created in her honour. This legacy is now a living, breathing community interest company supporting people across West Wales and beyond.
In just our first three months, we were awarded our first grant from the Welsh National Lottery Community Fund—a huge vote of confidence in the scale and impact of our work. Since then, we’ve hosted successful well-being days in Ceredigion, built strong partnerships with local cancer services, and we were named a Regional Finalist in the UK StartUp Awards 2025 for Social Enterprise of the Year for Wales.
We’re growing, and fast. But never at the expense of the personal touch we’re known for.
Making It Count – How We Use Your Funding
We don’t take your support lightly. Every pound you donate, or every grant we receive, is carefully channelled into projects that make a measurable difference.
Care Packages
Each package contains:
-
1x Eadiechops organic turban (choice of bold print, neutral or colourful)
-
1x Eyelure C-Lash false eyelashes
-
1x Eyebrow tattoo sheet by Zara Lena Cosmetics
These are more than beauty items—they're confidence tools, morale boosters, and the difference between not leaving the house and facing the world again.
We currently offer:
-
300 FREE packages funded by The National Lottery for individuals in the Ceredigion area
-
Reduced-price packages for £35 elsewhere, with £5 from every order reinvested into the CIC
Well-being Days
Think of these as a one-stop feel-good shop. We bring together everything under one roof: wig support, oncology massage, beauty sessions, sound healing, yoga, emotional support and more. They’re open not only to patients but also to carers and families, who are so often the forgotten backbone in the cancer journey.
We’ve hosted two successful events and are planning even more. The impact? Attendees consistently report improved emotional wellbeing, reduced isolation, and increased confidence in managing side effects of treatment.
Proposed Projects- Care information booklets
We would love to develop a modern, practical, illustrated information booklet for people newly diagnosed with cancer who are about to lose their hair. It will offer tips, guidance, and reassurance—with the tone of a friend who’s been there, not a medical leaflet that overwhelms.

Final Word
This isn’t just a cancer support project. It’s a glorious, messy, human celebration of courage, community and compassion. We’re here, on the ground, doing the work—and every laugh, tear, wig fitting and headscarf knot tied is a little victory.
You funders out there—you glorious grant-wielding unicorns—you have the power to make this community stronger, funnier, more supported and better dressed.
We’d love to work with you. Let's do something brilliant together.
